A Note About Walking Distances on The Las Vegas Strip
While the total walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip may only be 4.2 miles or so end to end, by the time youโve stopped and walked through all the various properties and attractions along the way you will have walked probably close to ten times that distance!
The hotels and casinos on the Strip are gigantic properties and you will likely find yourself walking a number of miles while exploring a single property.
In addition, the distances between hotels and casinos can prove deceptive. For instance, when looking at a map, the Luxor and Caesars Palace may look quite close together, but in truth, the two properties are almost two miles apart.
It will take approximately 37 minutes to cover that distance if youโre not stopping for any reason.
Of course, stopping to check stuff out and have fun is the whole reason youโre visiting Vegas in the first place. So covering that distance may take you all day.
![Las Vegas Strip FREE Walking Tour & Map (19 Must-See Stops!) 21 Las Vegas Strip Map](https://www.feelingvegas.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/LasVegasStripMap2.jpg)
So my advice to you is to pace yourself. The great thing about the Strip walking tour Iโve laid out above is that you can break it down into sections. You can cover the section of the Strip that youโre up for that day and leave the rest for another time.
In addition, you can begin your walk at any point along Las Vegas Boulevard and use this guide to visit the places nearby that youโre interested in.
Las Vegas Strip Walking Tips
Whether you choose to walk the entire Las Vegas Strip or just catch a rideshare to the area you want to be in, you will likely be doing more walking than you do in your normal day-to-day life. In addition, Las Vegas can present some walking challenges that you might not have to deal with at home.
Below, Iโve laid out some Las Vegas Strip walking tips that should prove beneficial:
- Wear comfortable walking shoes โ I canโt tell you the number of times Iโve seen ladies hobbling up and down the Strip while wearing high-heal shoes or guys trying to walk miles in flip-flops. Save the high-heels for the clubs and the flip-flops for the pools. Be sure to pack a pair of comfortable and broken-in walking shoes for walking along Las Vegas Blvd.
- When itโs hot, walk at night โ I shouldnโt have to tell you it can get really hot in Las Vegas for a good chunk of the year. While you may be expecting the hot weather, until youโve experienced it yourself you canโt possibly know what itโs like. Daytime temperatures from 100ยฐF to 115ยฐF (38ยฐC to 46ยฐC) are not uncommon. If youโre wanting to walk the Strip when the weather is like this, do it at night. While nighttime temperatures are still very hot, at least youโre not in the sun.
- Drink plenty of water โ Whether itโs hot outside or not always try to stay hydrated when youโre walking in Vegas. The air in Las Vegas is extremely dry compared to just about any other place on the planet. So even if itโs on the cool side you will want to be drinking water. This goes double if youโve been drinking adult beverages during your outing! Also, here are some ways to keep your skin moisturized while in Vegas.
- Wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen โ The sun here is intense. Thatโs true even when the weatherโs cool outside. It can be 60ยฐF outside, and you can still get a wicked sunburn if youโre not careful. A hat, sunglasses, and a liberal application of sunscreen should be a requirement if you plan on spending much time walking along the Strip.
4 Ways to Avoid Some Walking in Las Vegas
If this much walking sounds exhausting to you, take heart. There are ways to get around Las Vegas without a car that can cut out a significant portion of the walking.
- Hop on Hop Off Bus โ The Hop on Hop Off Bus is an open-top, double-decker bus that runs up and down the Strip and to downtown. The bus will stop at or near most of the destinations on the walking tour guide without you having to walk the in-between sections. You can purchase a ticket for the day and hop off the bus wherever you want and jump back on again when youโre ready.
- Duece Bus โ Alternatively, you can ride the Deuce (city bus) up and down the Strip for a very low cost. There are many stops along the Strip and into downtown that are sure to help save your feet.
- Uber & Lyft โ There are plenty of available and affordable (usually) rideshare services in Las Vegas. Find out how much Uber and Lyft cost in Las Vegas.
- Fly Over The Strip โ Finally, if youโre not into walking at all or just want an amazing tour of the Strip from above, you can book a Las Vegas Strip sunset helicopter tour.
Final Thoughts
Taking a self-guided walking tour of the Las Vegas Strip is something every visitor to Vegas should do. Use the information in this guide and the Vegas Strip walking map in this article to plan your adventure.
Be sure to bring comfortable shoes, and enjoy the experience. After all, you only live once, and Las Vegas is the town to live it up!
