Can You Walk From Luxor to Mandalay Bay Inside? (Yes, Here’s How)

You can walk from Luxor to Mandalay Bay inside by using the mall walkway (The Shoppes at Mandalay Place) that connects the two hotels. The distance between them is about .3 miles (.48 km), making it approximately a 7-minute walk.
In this article, I’ll discuss different ways to get from Luxor to Mandalay Bay. Let’s get started.

How To Get From Luxor to Mandalay Bay Inside
The Mandalay Place mall walkway inside the Luxor Hotel serves as a pedestrian passage linking the Luxor and Mandalay Bay hotels. Locate and follow the sign that leads to the Shoppes at Mandalay Bay Place. Once in the small mall area, continue walking south, and you will enter Mandalay Bay Las Vegas.
You can walk from Luxor to Mandalay Bay in about 7 minutes, depending on where you’re headed inside Mandalay Bay.
You’ll pass by several stores before getting to Mandalay Bay. So, if you have a little cash to spare, you can explore the shops in the mall walkway as you go along.
The street view above will show what the Shoppes at Mandalay Place look like from the outside. The mall is really just a narrow corridor that contains approximately 40 stores. The main benefit of going through the mall (besides the window shopping opportunity) is to stay out of the sun and beating the Vegas heat.
And speaking of exploration, if you’ve got the time, don’t forget to visit the Mandalay Bay Aquarium. A visit to the aquarium will take 1-2 hours, but it’s an attraction I highly recommend when visiting Las Vegas.

Other Ways To Get From Luxor to Mandalay Bay
In addition, there are two other ways to get to Mandalay Bay from the Luxor hotel.
Sidewalk to Mandalay Bay from Luxor
Another way to get from Luxor Hotel to Mandalay Bay on foot is to use the sidewalk along the Las Vegas Strip.
The sidewalk on the Strip will lead you directly to Mandalay Bay. Just exit out the front of the Luxor Hotel and turn right at the walkway along Las Vegas Boulevard. If the weather is not too hot, you can enjoy the fresh air and take in the frontal view of the massive Mandalay Bay resort before heading inside.
Walking to Mandalay Bay from the Luxor by this route is a little farther (approx 1 mile) and will take a few minutes longer (10 minutes or so.)

Luxor to Manadalay Bay Via Tram
If you’d prefer not to go on foot, an alternative way to get from Luxor to Mandalay Bay is by boarding the tram. If you’re also looking to avoid the Vegas heat – but would rather not use the mall walkway – then the tram is a great way to move between the two hotels.
The tram system actually links three hotels: Excalibur North, Luxor Hotel, and Mandalay Bay. If you’re new to the flow of the tram, it can be confusing.
There are two 160-capacity people-mover trams available. There are two tracks for the trams – the western and eastern tracks:
- The tram on the western track moves from the north (Excalibur) to the south (Mandalay Bay). This tram picks up passengers from the Excalibur Hotel and has only one stop, and that’s at Mandalay Bay. It’s called the express track. It takes three minutes to make this trip.
- The second tram goes through the eastern track. It runs from the south to the north and makes regular stops at each section. If you’re at Luxor and want to get on a tram, this is the one you should board. You’ll stop first at Excalibur, and from there, head to Mandalay Bay. The full trip takes about seven minutes.
If you are at Mandalay Bay and want to move to Luxor, you can board the Mandalay Tram (it’s free!), and it will take you straight to Luxor.
Tram trains arrive and depart every 3-7 minutes, so you won’t have to wait long for a ride.
How Do I Locate the Tram Stations on Mandalay Bay and Luxor Hotel?
It’s fairly simple to navigate to the tram stations in both hotels.
- Luxor Tram Station: The Luxor Tram Station is very easy to locate. It’s right in front of the Sphinx outside the hotel. Find the Sphinx, and you can find the tram station.
- Mandalay Bay Tram Station: To locate this tram station, you’ll need to get to the casino first. Move towards the northeast end of the casino; you’ll find escalators going up. Take one, and you should pass near Starlight Tattoo and the House of Blues Restaurant & Bar around a bend. The tram station is located in front. Just follow the signs.
The Mandalay tram is open Mondays through Wednesdays and Sundays from 9 am to 12:30 am. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it’s open from 9 am – 2:30 am.

Still, the distance between the hotels is too small to pay for a bus ride. Plus, it may not be as fun as walking or taking a tram. If you have a private car or booked a ride online, you can also use either to get to Mandalay Bay from Luxor.
